UDC has been successful in many government sponsored and privately funded research programs. These R&D ventures have led to the development of many commercial products and the improvement of existing materials and application methods. Some significant R&D accomplishments include:
- Development of a rapid procedure for evaluation of mechanical characteristics of short-fiber reinforcements and fillers in thermoplastic matrices.
-
Engineering a silicone potting compound having high thermal conductivity and low coefficient of thermal expansion.
- Development of a line of UV curable coatings, adhesives and inks.
- Evaluation of coatings, elastomers and adhesives for XM29/30 gas mask.
- Recommended materials for construction of next generation protective masks.
- Developed reliable process for adhesive bonding of an optically clear polyurethane lens to a silicone rubber face blank.
-
Participated in the development and testing of conductive Teflon tubing used for aircraft fuel lines to avaoid leakage failures due to electrostatic pressures
